Reviews and Ratings
The hotel room was spacious and convenient for us, located right by the pub which was a bit distracting with its bright sign all night. The outside access was a bonus as it saved us the hassle of stairs with a pushchair.
Staying at the hotel was a mixed experience. The rooms were very basic and old-looking but surprisingly comfortable and spotless. The service was friendly and accommodating, although there were some issues with non-servicing of the room. The location was quiet and peaceful, perfect for a rural getaway. The dining was subpar with a disappointing breakfast experience. Overall, the hotel had its ups and downs but left me feeling rejuvenated and motivated to possibly return in the future.
The hotel is in need of refurbishment with old fittings in the bathroom, worn carpet, and a strange smell in the bathroom. However, the evening and breakfast service was attentive and lovely, except for a couple of instances where service was lacking. The rural location is ideal for visiting family in Gateshead with excellent motorway access, though lacking a television. Dining had a good selection but could improve; meanwhile, the beer garden added to the charm.
